Kamal, the son of farmers, first founded of Souk el Tayeb, Lebanon’s first farmers market, in early 2004. Since its foundation, Souk el Tayeb has evolved into an institution with the mission of celebrating food traditions that unite communities, promote small-scale farmers, and advance the culture of sustainable agriculture. The Souk el Tayeb institution includes the Tawlet Farmer’s Kitchens, Beit Guesthouses, and Capacity Building programs for underserved communities, and various cultural events hosted around Lebanon.
